UBS ARTE

UBS places tremendous demands on its supporting IT systems and therefore has a large number of in-house developments. By being so flexible, it is also possible to respond very quickly to changing business processes and approaches.

The objective in the area of information systems and wealth management was to replace an existing solution using HTML technology that had reached the end of its life cycle. This was the portfolio construction system ARTE (Advanced Risk & Template Engine). Investment professionals around the world use it to manage thousands of templates, which provide the basis for millions of client portfolios containing many billions in assets. To be able to manage these templates efficiently, ARTE is made up of building blocks for a wide range of financial objects, such as financial instruments, lists of eligible instruments, model portfolios, benchmarks, asset allocations, or templates.

So that users can retain an overview of the many different objects and still be able to work efficiently with them, UBS decided to use the Eclipse RCP client technology. As a pioneer in the Swiss IT industry very familiar with this technology, Inventage was able to successfully deploy this technology at UBS. The development work was divided up. Inventage was in charge of the complete client development side, while UBS realised the server and integration into the UBS IT environment. The software was continuously adapted to the new requirements.
